10th Self-Government Forum

Dear Sir/Madam,

You are kindly invited to take part in the international conference entitled the 10th Self-Government Forum, which is due to take place on 2-3 June 2014 in Kołobrzeg at the Marine Hotel *****, Sułkowskiego Str. 9.

This year’s Forum will be dedicated to “The 10 years of Polish self-governments in the European Union – the achievements, successes, and opportunities, but also challenges, resulting from Poland’s membership of the European Union. The discussions and deliberations will focus on the following subjects:

The conference will be focused on:

  • The effects of EU membership – towards a Europe of regions

10 years of Polish membership in the European Union – a summary of Poland’s ten-year-long membership in the EU and its implications for present Poles–Europeans in the cultural, social and economic context.
A recapitulation of the 10 years in the united Europe. The experiences of the Member States in implementing regional policies. Poland’s presence in NATO and its meaning for the development and strengthening of the country’s international position.
Poland’s road to freedom – the role of the 1989 political system transformation in building a democratic state.

  • Self-government in Europe. The place and the role of European self-governments in shaping future EU policy

The most important challenges for the EU regional policy. The necessity of realignments. Is a reform of EU indispensable?
The EU budget – the most essential challenges that Europe faces. What are the implications for the regions? The development of self-governments under the financial limitations. Self-governments’ role in Poland beyond 2020.

  • Europe of the Regions and its finances

Investment prospects of the self-governments and entrepreneurs in 2014-2020 UE financial perspective.
Self-governments’ role in creating regional/local loan and bail funds as the financial intermediaries for the SME sector.
The instruments of financial engineering for SME and units of territorial self-government.  The barriers of access to repayable funds in new programming period. The role of banks.

 

Admission to the conference is free. Participants will only be responsible
for travel
and accommodation costs.
Applications to participate in the Forum must be submitted electronically using a registration form until 18 May 2014 or until no places are available.
